Here is my entry for the deviantWEAR 8-bit Design Challenge.
The challenge was to "create an original 8-bit inspired design that a gamer would be proud to wear." I myself am quite the gamer, so I immediately had some idea of what style to go for. The black hoodie colour gives an edgier, more 'gamer' like feel, and is great for making the white design stand out. Being highly pixellated, the design needed to be simple so that it could be created at such a small size, and yet still be bold and effective. That's why I decided to stick with one colour, namely white, rather than try to overcomplicate things with shading or multiple colours. Hopefully you agree that it worked!
I decided to use the classic 'Anarchy' symbol, as it is bold, immediately recognisable around the world, and I think the mind-set fits well with a lot of gamers. Just play 5 minutes of any online shooter and you'd probably agree anarchy is a good word to describe events! And, this being deviantART, I wanted some connection to art. Hence making the A the first letter of ART on the front of the shirt, using a pixellated font for the R and T reminiscent of old, 8-bit games.
On the back I decided to keep things simple, and simply re-create the deviantART logo that we all see daily in the top-left-hand corner of our screens as if it was from an 8-bit game, sticking with the single, white colour.
Anyway, I hope you like my design, and if you do, please do remember to vote! I would massively appreciate it and love you forever
